Last fall, PENNSELA (the Pennsylvania Science Education Leadership Association) launched at the SAS Conference with a keynote workshop by the authors of The Instructional Leader’s Guide to Implementing K–8 Science Practices. We're excited to share about our Inaugural PENNSELA Statewide Spring Round Table. The round table will take place at PaTTAN Harrisburg on May 16, 2025, from 9 am to 3 pm.

The inaugural PENNSELA Statewide Spring Round Table will bring science education leaders across the Commonwealth to connect, collaborate, and lead. Hosted in partnership with the PA Chief Science Officers (CSO) Program, this special event offers a timely opportunity to engage in discussions as we prepare for the official launch of Pennsylvania’s new STEELS standards on July 1, 2025.

Agenda Highlights:

• Engage with Dr. Carla Zembal-Saul, co-author of the National Academies’ new publication Rise and Thrive with Science.
  
  
• Learn about innovative K–12 initiatives from Dr. Carol O’Donnell, Director of the Smithsonian Science Education Center.
  
  
• Reengage with the “Instructional Leadership for Science Practices” work from the Fall SAS Conference with Dr. Andy Weatherhead.
  
  
• Discover the impact of elevating student voice through the PA Chief Science Officers program.
